Sports Massage/Deep Tissue Massage

book now sports massage
Deep Tissue Massage can be beneficial to all, not just sports people and athletes.
So whether you are stiff from your last training session, tight from being hunched over a desk all day, or have DOM’s from a weekend of DIY, a sports massage may be for you.

Deep tissue massage or a sports massage is generally ‘deeper’ than that used in Swedish massage or at a spa, but the depth and pressure is tailored to the patient’s comfort level and the aims of the treatment.
Deep Tissue Massage can help to:

  • Reduce Muscle soreness
  • Stretch muscle and fascia
  • Assist circulation and drainage
  • Soothe painful and sore areas
  • Reduce muscle tone
  • Reduce local swelling
  • Soften the fascia
  • Loosen adhesions between the tissues
  • Prepare the muscle for activity
  • Reduce trigger point activity
  • Break down scar tissue

Relaxing / Therapeutic
Massage

book now massage therapeutic
In this style of therapy, the goal is to prompt your body into a deep relaxation state. Rather than working on deep muscular issues or chronic pain, relaxation massages are intended to provide an immediate sense of relaxation and well-being.

The therapist will apply pressure to the muscles and gently work the surface tissue to help the body release the worries and tensions of everyday life. This can provide you with a sense of rejuvenation or a ‘reset.’

Relaxing / Therapeutic Massage can help to:

  • Improve circulation
  • Increase flexibility
  • Better quality of sleep
  • Minimise fatigue
  • Reduce stress
  • Help relieve some symptoms of anxiety
  • Boost immunity
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Decrease swelling post-injury and post-surgery

Cancer & Palliative Care Massage

Cancer and paliative care massage is provided by Sb Physiotherapy. Oncology and palliative patients are though to be highly responsive to massage therapy. An oncology massage is patient specific and largely is based around treating the side effects (long and short) of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery

We will visit you and can provide a specialist assessment of your needs within your own comfortable surroundings.

Touch Therapy
Light touch is thought to encourage relaxation and lessen anxiety, no matter how gentle. If a client is in too much pain for the lightest of massage, Touch Therapy may help. It is massage applied over clothing, aiming to reduce anxiety and improve sleep
Community Physio Horley, Community Physio Reigate
Benefits of oncology massage include
  • Increased ability to tolerate cancer treatment side effects
  • Better sleep
  • Fewer headaches
  • Less chronic pain for the treatment or cancer itself
  • Less stress and anxiety
